Permanent magnetic lifters are preferred by many in the steel industry because they leave little to no marks or scratches on the material surfaces when compared to other solutions like clamps/hooks. Lifting magnets are permanent magnets that generate a larger and more intense magnetic field than ordinary ones. This happens due to its chemical composition of rare earth elements as well as some ferrites. Today, we can toggle on/off permanent magnets to our liking, thanks to modern technologies and magnetic research. Lifting magnets has become an efficient and viable option where a large number of metal plates, tubes, or any such metallic parts or scraps need to be lifted, which without them is immensely challenging.
MAG - AUTOBLOK TECNOMAGNETE SPA is considered the pioneer of magnetism in the industrial field. Since its inception in 1974, they have become the titan of permanent electromagnetic technology in the machine tool field. They have various branches all across the world, from Italy (Milan - headquarters) to the USA, Germany, France, and China, with excellent sales support in all of them.
Their safe and efficient energy-saving lifting solutions are great options for heavy-duty lifting applications for steel plants, loading/unloading of steel materials/machinery, cranes at ports, and manipulators.
The Quad System technology, invented by Technagnete in the 1980s, is the driving force behind their innovations. This technology features a permanent - electromagnetic circuit with altering North (N) and the South (S) poles arranged in a checkerboard pattern within a magnetically neutral frame. Each pole is constituted by a steel core, a reversible Alnico magnet, and mighty Neodymium magnets. By applying an electric pulse, the polarity of the reversible magnet shifts, which causes the magnetic field to move from the inside to the outside of the system and vice versa.
Advantages over other magnetic configurations include -
1. Permanent Electro Safety
Electric power is required only for the initial activation (MAG) and the deactivation (DEMAG) process. A brief electrical pulse of a few fractions of a second will magnetize the system, after which the workpiece remains clamped with consistent force, void of any further power consumption. The demagnetization is done with a subsequent electrical pulse, as well as the removal of the workpiece.
2. Bi-directional and Neutral Crown circuit for maximum performance
The checkerboard square morphology enables a horizontal and flattened flow of circulation, which concentrates on the polar area, meaning the workpiece. The harmony between the North and South poles ensures a perfectly balanced magnetic field, eliminates magnetic dispersion, and delivers a consistent and reliable performance in all conditions.
3. Respects the Environment
Because it does not release any toxic/hazardous substances, they do not need chemical oils or lubricants that require frequent disposals. Therefore, it is a clean technology. The electric consumption, too, is only needed when activating and deactivating the system.
