Water jet
Imagine a super-powered water gun that could cut through steel! That is basically what it is: water jet cutting. There is a special pump squeezing water with incredibly enormous pressure. We are talking about pressure 60 times more powerful than a hose of fire! Now, sometimes even that super water gun needs a little extra oomph to cut through really tough stuff. That's where things get interesting.
Almost like sandpaper: For the toughest materials, we can add a little superhard grit to the water, like adding a piece of sandpaper to our water gun, and this grit lets the jetted water blast through rock, ceramic, even glass.
We use a small quantity of soap here. It is almost as though the soap supports the good cutting by the water jet. Therefore, the water jet cuts well and works effectively on more extensive ranges of material.
