The TRF Edge Milling Machine: A Flagship Model

The TRF model is one of the flagship products from Tecoi. This product is well-known for its excellent performance and innovative CBM technology. Designed for high-speed production, the robust machine ensures excellent-quality bevels even in thick materials.

What really sets the TRF range apart is its innovative Cold Bevel Milling (CBM) technology. This is an exclusive TECOI development that revolutionizes edge preparation by eliminating the need for thermal processes or chemical treatments.

The CBM system uses a high-powered motorized head with a milling tool that is specifically designed to remove surface layers mechanically, giving an accurate shape to the desired bevel profile. The cold working process ensures the integrity of the material without causing the possible harmful effects of heat and chemicals.

Unlike traditional thermal cutting methods, such as oxyfuel cutting, the CBM technology removes material through a mechanical process that does not generate heat and does not chemically alter the workpiece. This cold working approach makes subsequent welding processes easier, leading to safer joints and higher quality assemblies.

Main Features of TRF:

The rigid electro-welded gantry structure provides stability and precision.

The new double-channel design allows two sides of the plate to be processed at the same time, increasing efficiency.

The TRF eliminates the need for thermal cutting processes, thereby reducing material distortion, improving weld quality, and enhancing overall production efficiency.


The high-powered motors of the TRF ensure optimal cutting speeds and precision. State-of-the-art positioning technology allows real-time adjustments of the distance of the machining heads in the Y-axis to accommodate various plate widths.

TECOI exclusive tooling, for a single pass, offers a wide range of bevel profiles such as I, K, V, X, and J. There are also possibilities of custom tooling based on certain project requirements. In this regard, the same workstation can prepare narrow gap welding depending upon the work requirements.

For added flexibility, TRF machines can be equipped with automatic tool magazines, which can hold up to 5 different tools. These magazines allow for rapid and self-servicing tool changes, thus simplifying the production process. A manual tool change option is also available.

While the cutting tables in TECOI's thermal cutting machines were reinforced, the TRF uses a high-resistance magnetic bench. This new system features 16 double magnet units along each 12 meters of plate to provide stability and minimize the vibrations that can occur while milling.

There are one or two control cabins installed according to the number of machining heads available in TRF machines. The cabins are equipped with state-of-the-art FANUC CNC controls, well known for their speed and precision. This ensures effective processing of all commands, in line with the performance exhibited by TECOI's cutting machines.

The TECOI TRF offers a generous work area that can handle plates up to 4200 mm in width and 45,000 mm in length with up to 200 mm thickness. The spindle motor ranges from 30 to 100 KW, depending on application-specific requirements.

For instance, the TRF 4000 model can bevel plates up to 70 mm in a single pass and up to 100 mm in multiple passes. The machine produces K, Y, and V bevel shapes.

On the other hand, the TRF 5000 model can work even on thicker plates as the bevels can go as high as 120 mm on one pass and up to 200 mm on several passes. K, Y, J, and V bevel shapes are all supported.

TRF PowerDrive is the high-end model from TECOI, pushing the boundaries of machining capacity and efficiency. With 115 kW of milling power per head, it can mill plates up to 300 mm thick at maximum speed.

While retaining the core features of the TRF range, such as the double-channel structure for simultaneous milling, TRF PowerDrive has a new dynamic damper system. This is an innovative system that dampens vibrations, ensuring exceptional stability and precision during high-power machining operations.
